Most inboard and stern-drive engine rebuilds take 2-4 weeks from the time we receive your engine. This includes teardown, inspection, machining, parts ordering, assembly, and dyno testing. Custom builds or rare engines may take longer depending on parts availability.

In many cases, yes. Depending on your engine platform, upgrades may include camshaft changes, intake/exhaust improvements, ECU remapping, or forced induction (supercharger/turbo). However, not all engines are suitable for significant power increases. Contact us with your engine serial number for a feasibility assessment.

Always use oil specifically formulated for marine engines, not automotive oil. Marine oils have higher zinc content (ZDDP) for camshaft protection, better corrosion inhibitors, and are designed for the unique load profiles of marine operation. We recommend Mercury Quicksilver, Volvo Penta VDS, or Shell Rimula for diesels. Check your owner's manual for the correct viscosity grade.

We recommend replacing the raw water impeller every 12 months or 100 hours of operation, whichever comes first. Impellers are rubber and degrade over time even with minimal use. A failed impeller can cause catastrophic overheating in minutes. Carry a spare on board.

A core charge is a refundable deposit on remanufactured engines and transmissions. It incentivizes the return of your old ("core") unit so it can be rebuilt for the next customer. If you return the core within 30 days in rebuildable condition, the full core charge is refunded. If you do not have a core to return, the charge is non-refundable.

Common signs include: excessive oil consumption, low compression, coolant in the oil, metal particles in the oil filter, knocking or rattling noises, loss of power, and excessive exhaust smoke.
